Sanjita is the Program Director, Talent Development at the Greater Des Moines Partnership leading Immigrant integration work in the region. Sanjita was the Resettlement Director at Catholic Charities where she helped resettle and integrate thousands of refugees.

She also served as the Executive Director of the Office of Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs. In this role Sanjita’s goal was to be the voice of these many underrepresented refugees and immigrants who have high barriers, bring education about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) in the state and advocate on their behalf.

Sanjita was appointed on May 8, 2015 by President Obama to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and worked closely with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (WHIAAPI) to bridge the gap between federal programs and resources in the AAPI communities and to shape laws that helped to improve the quality of life of all Asian Americans in the U.S.
